Abstract

In the modern era, most of the countries make joint defense agreements with each other to strengthen their defense and to deal with any possible threats. Many Muslim countries enter into such joint defense agreement with non-Muslim countries. Such as Pakistan signed a joint defense agreement with the United States of America in April 1959 under the Central Treaty Organization (CENTO).Such agreement Pakistan made with China too, under which both countries agreed on strengthening their bilateral ties including mutual joint defense cooperation. China assured Pakistan that China would protect Pakistan’s territorial sovereignty. According to that treaty China would protect Pakistan and support Pakistan over border issue with India.

Now we will examine in this research paper whether it is permissible for an Islamic state to enter into a joint defense agreement with another non-Muslim country or not? In this research paper we will try our best to search the answer of this question in the light of Seerat-E-Tayeeba.
